October brings with it soup season, all things pumpkin and apple, and of course, every kid’s candy dreams come true with Halloween. You know what the problem is though? All that ghoulish fun is reserved for October 31st, and who wants to wait 30 whole days for so much fun?! So I say this year, since Halloween is probably going to look different for many of us anyway, why don’t we find ways to add some spooky fun to the rest of the month too!

With my oldest being 16, I’ve had lots of years to find some really cute ways to incorporate Halloween into our menus. In fact, a yearly tradition in our house is our annual Halloween Extravaganza meal. This is where I take every day recipes and turn them into gross or creepy things (by name only) for a super fun supper. For example, my Slow Cooker Hawaiian Meatballs served over white rice become “zombie brains with maggots.” Disgusting I know, but my boys love it, and with my baby being four, we can now repeat all the fun traditions we’ve created with him too.
This Worms In Dirt Dessert is one I can remember having as a kid, and thought it was just as “gross” as my boys have. Let’s be honest though, if you can get your kids to say “ewwww” when it comes to food, and still eat it, you’re winning major mom points.

What is Worms In Dirt Dessert?
Worms In Dirt Dessert is essentially chocolate pudding mixed with cookies for a “dirt” concoction, and then you add some worms on top for extra creepy factor. It’s super simple, and the kids can even help make it. Fresh out of candy worms? You could swap them for candy pumpkins and turn it into a pumpkin patch dessert.
However you are choosing to celebrate Halloween this year, I hope you find ways to make it extra fun, extra sweet and just a little extra gross for your little ghosts and goblins.
